Choosing a voice agent platform
Evaluating Rymi against Vapi, Retell, Bland, or another voice AI platform? This page lays out the dimensions that actually separate platforms, and states plainly where Rymi stands on each. Check any vendor you're considering against the same list.
Pricing model
Most platforms quote a platform fee per minute, then pass through provider costs on top — and the all-in number only becomes clear on your first invoice.
Rymi prices two ways, both stated up front:
- Rymi-Curated agents — a tuned, locked stack at a flat per-minute rate, from $0.05/min. Speech, model, and voice are included in one number.
- Custom agents — assemble any stack, or bring your own OpenAI or Anthropic keys. You pay providers at cost plus a flat $0.02/min runtime fee. Example all-in rates today: Lean ~$0.04/min, Balanced ~$0.06/min, Premium ~$0.16/min.
Billing is per 30-second increment. Purchased credits never expire. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum. The free tier is perpetual: $1/month in call credit, no card required — it resets each month rather than accumulating.
Questions to ask any vendor: What is the all-in per-minute cost for my exact stack? Are provider costs marked up? Is there a monthly platform fee on top?
Vendor lock-in
Three places a voice platform can lock you in: the model stack, the phone numbers, and the provider accounts.
- Stack — on Rymi, custom agents let you pick every component (LLM, speech-to-text, voice) or bring your own keys. You are not limited to a curated menu.
- Numbers — Rymi is bring-your-own-carrier. Connect Plivo, Twilio, Vonage, or Telnyx; keep your own numbers and your own carrier rates. Leaving Rymi never means porting numbers.
- Providers — with BYOK, your OpenAI or Anthropic spend stays on your own account, at your own negotiated rates.
Voice quality in non-English languages
Many platforms bolt multilingual support onto an English-first stack, so a Hindi or Tamil caller hears an American-accented voice. Rymi's rule is stricter: if no stack can deliver a native-accent voice for a language, that option is not offered at all. Hindi and ten other Indian languages run on natively trained speech models. Developer surface
- REST API with full reference docs
- Open-source SDKs:
@rymi/node (npm), rymi (PyPI), and an MCP server @rymi/mcp (npm)
- An MCP server (
@rymi/mcp) so AI clients like Claude and Cursor can create, configure, and call agents directly
- Webhooks with signature verification for every call, agent, and billing event
Questions to ask any vendor: Are the SDKs open source? Can I reproduce every dashboard action through the API?
What you get after the call
Every finished Rymi call returns a transcript, an AI-written summary, sentiment analysis, structured data extracted to your schema, and the recording. Delivered in the dashboard and pushed to your systems by webhook the moment the call ends.
Where Rymi is not the right fit
Honest scoping saves you a trial: Rymi does not sell phone numbers (you bring a carrier), and it does not offer a Hindi realtime-model tier — realtime models bundle non-native Hindi voices, and Rymi does not ship compromised voices.
Try it against your shortlist
The free tier exists for exactly this. Create an account, build the same agent you'd build on the other platform, and place a browser call in under five minutes. Compare the transcripts side by side.
